鹿港 – Lukang – Deer Port (from now on just Deer Port because it sounds awesome) is a small town near Taichung. It’s a township that kept its own “old look”, and many tourists visit it all year long.
From old building, doors, structures, locks etc etc, it’s really like having a glimpes of what Taiwan looked like decades ago.
SInce the town has become a tourist attraction, there are also more modern areas, such as the small but cute art district.
Cat Nikon fanboys: confirmed?
Deer Port is very close to Taichung city, it can easily be reached by bus or, if you feel a bit more adventurous, even by motorbike/bicycle.
There’s isn’t a lot to do apart from walking, enjoy the retro-feeling and have a nice meal, so don’t expect to spend a full day there. An early morning visit to enjoy the not-too-hot timeframe, then lucnh at local restaurant or traditional market and then back home is probably the ideal solution.
