  1. Really interesting reading your posts. I too love cycling and photography, but have never really dared to take my SLR with me on my rides- when you do go touring, how much of the above equipment do you actually take? And how do you make sure it stays safe from the rain and potholes?

    • I should update my “gear list” because I’ve recently switched to a full frame Canon camera!
      Anyway, I always carry all my gear in the backpack, not inside panniers. Dslr + 2 lenses + filters is usually all that I need for 95% of my photos, and that’s not a lot of weight. I use a Clik Elite Venture backpack which stores all the photo gear at the bottom, so I don’t feel a lot of weight on my back and I can comfortably ride for hours.
      In the past I used to pack camera + laptop in the panniers, but after dropping over 100$ to replace a laptop’s display I decided that I can carry a few extra kilos on my back!
